Wuhou Shrine

Wuhou Shrine, one of Chengdu’s most historic landmarks, is a tribute to the legendary figures of the Three Kingdoms era (220-280 AD). The shrine primarily honors Zhuge Liang, the brilliant strategist and Prime Minister of Shu, known for his wisdom and unwavering loyalty. It is also home to the Zhaolie Temple, dedicated to Liu Bei, the founding ruler of Shu, and the Huiling Mausoleum, his final resting place. The shrine’s architecture and ancient relics transport visitors back to an era of great battles, political intrigue, and legendary brotherhood.

Adding to its historical depth, Wuhou Shrine also houses the Sanyi Temple, commemorating the famous oath of brotherhood between Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei, a bond immortalized in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Strolling through its tranquil courtyards, visitors can admire intricate stone carvings, ancient tablets, and statues that preserve the spirit of this heroic past. For history enthusiasts and culture lovers, Wuhou Shrine offers an immersive glimpse into one of China’s most celebrated dynastic periods.
